Course Objectives
What’s Included?
This two-day course is intended for healthcare professionals managing symptoms of spasticity and palsy by intramuscular injection of botulinum toxin who wish to improve their understanding of anatomic relationships and practice ultrasound-guided injection techniques for specific muscles and muscle groups. It will focus on skills development using systematic anatomically based approaches to ultrasound guided injection, for precise and accurate delivery of Botulinum Toxin into targeted muscles. This event has been independently assessed for CPD accreditation. The event will be held in the Turnbull Centre, a fully equipped anatomy and physiology teaching and learning facility located at the Mile End campus of Queen Mary University of London.
Consultant Surgeon in Spinal Injuries
Mr S C Budithi is a Consultant in Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation at the prestigious Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries based at Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry. His special interests include spasticity and pressure ulcer management focusing particularly on patients with spinal cord injury. He has a keen interest in teaching. He conducts and participates in workshops teaching Ultrasound guided interventions, Botulinum Toxin injections (including cadaver workshops) and pressure ulcer management. He regularly publishes articles in peer reviewed journals and presents at various national and international conferences.
Physiotherapist, MSK Sonographer and MSK anatomist
Fredy graduated with a BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of East London in 2012. In addition to being a practicing Physiotherapist Fredy is also an anatomy teacher holding a guest lecturer position at The University of East London’s School of Health, Sport and Bioscience. Fredy is a qualified musculoskeletal sonographer with a PG Cert in MSK Ultrasound qualification from the University of East London.
Since his graduation Fredy has worked in a private capacity with a number of professional athletes focusing on both rehabilitation post injury and injury prevention. His list of clientele includes a number of elite level cage-fighters, wrestlers, and body-builders. Fredy employs his knowledge of weight-management and experience in exercise prescription to design specific programs for each client. offering sports massage in additional to traditional hysiotherapy assessment and treatment.
