This course is and advanced level course aimed at discussing more complex procedures in ultrasound guided injection for Neuro Rehabilitation using adjuncts of focal spasticity management with an emphasis on injection therapy, including aspects of Safety, localisation, and minimising patient risk. It is intended for clinicians and practitioners with experience of ultrasound scanning for guidance of injections therapy to include (Botulinum toxin, steroid, and chemo-denervation).
This course is designed to provide a programme of practical instruction to ensure the skills learned are practiced and refined. This model of learning is specifically designed to support practitioners in their development of ultrasound identification of structures to support guided injections for botulinum toxin. The aim is to build confidence through practice covering the shoulder, upper and lower limb structures, and salivary glands. Examination techniques are demonstrated and practiced. Discussion and sharing of experience with the course leads is encouraged.

Neurological Physiotherapist
Peter Sanderson, Clinical Director and Consultant Neurological Physiotherapist has a wealth of experience working within neurological rehabilitation both in the private and public sector.
Peter is internationally recognised as leading in the field of neurological rehabilitation and regularly invited to share his skills and experiences with international delegates.
As Clinical Director of PSP Neuro and Paediatric Rehabilitation he has brought together both medics and healthcare professionals to provide one of the most advanced spasticity service in the UK. The unique multi-disciplinary team has a proven track record of developing and implementing effective approaches in the management of spasticity ensuring the individual’s needs are met.
Clinical specialist physiotherapist with expertise in neurological rehabilitation
Karen is a clinical specialist physiotherapist with expertise in neurological rehabilitation for adults and children, working both in hospital and community settings across the NHS and private sectors .Karen demonstrates specialist spasticity assessment and treatment skills and works as part of multidisciplinary team as a trained injector of botulinum toxin. Within the MDT, Karen advises on bespoke management adjuncts for spasticity including Botulinum Toxin, phenol nerve blockades, ITB and peripheral neurectomies.
Karen worked on a spasticity CQUIN with the dual role of developing a specialist spasticity outreach service for patients unfit to travel to clinic, whilst creating and delivering a training package on spasticity management for professionals working in care homes. Karen has continued this work and regularly presents to those within the legal world on the need for early intervention to maximise rehab potential, and to avoid secondary co morbidities. Karen was recognised for her work on this project and given a best practise award.
Having worked within a regional orthotic centre, Karen has expertise in orthotic prescription, assessment and fabrication. Karen is skilled in serial casting and the provision of FES. Karen has worked as a brain injury case manager gaining an in-depth understanding of the litigation process, and the need to maintain open, transparent and frequent communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary team in order to provide timely and effective care for each client. Karen continues to provide Immediate Needs Assessments, and case management on an interim basis.
Karen acts as an expert witness specialising in long term adult neuro rehabilitation. Karen is passionate about every patient reaching their rehabilitation potential, and has demonstrated a sound record on providing up to date evidence-based recommendations to assist in the acquisition of funds for clients proceeding with both personal injury and medical negligence claims.
Within Apollo Health, Karen is responsible for managing a team of clinicians, as alongside leading development and research. Karen provides professional input to assist a level 2b rehabilitation unit to evidence patient outcome through the implementation of recognise valid and reliable outcome measures.
Acute Rehabilitation
Bhaskar is the Clinical Lead for the Acute Rehabilitation following major trauma at University Hospital South Manchester. He is a very important part of the team that provides a comprehensive and specialist Neurorehabilitation service for complex patients in Greater Manchester. Bhaskar provides the consultant service for patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and other neurodegenerative diseases. He has a special interest in complex spasticity management following stroke or brain injury, including Botulinum Toxin chemodenervation.
He is a regular contributor to professional journals, and has taken an active interest in a number of rehabilitation, Research and educational projects for Manchester University and University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). He is the Contributor of the on-going FORME research project on CFS/ME. He has a wealth of teaching experience and regularly presents at national and international meeting. He has a number of published articles in leading journals. He is the teacher and trainer in BSRM SIGAM Advanced Prosthetic and Amputee Rehabilitation course.

In order to perform image guided injections in your workplace you must conform to your local guidelines and competency requirements.
Our Foundation courses are specifically designed for people who have no previous scanning experience.

When you have registered you’ll be asked to fill out a form which gives us your preferred delivery details. Your Orca POD will be shipped to you via DHL Express. You get to keep and use the Orca POD for the entire duration of the course and we’ll arrange the collection after the last session/assessment.
We provide pre-course technical support to help you from the time you receive your Orca POD. Our team is available for one-on-one meetings before and between sessions to support you.
When someone is unable to attend a session a colleague can attend in their place.
The Course Fee includes the rental of the equipment for the entire duration of the course as well as the tutor’s fee, shipping, CPD points and certificate.
