Rob Mast

Advanced Practice Physiotherapist

For more than 25 years I have been managing patients with complex musculoskeletal problems in my role as an advanced physiotherapy practitioner. I have been an integral part of a busy and innovative MSK service - The Locomotor Service - which is an integrated MSK service and part of Homerton Healthcare Foundation Trust. As an extension of my clinical skills, I use diagnostic ultrasound and deliver many ultrasound-guided injections at the clinical point of care (POCUS). I am also an integral team member of the Homerton Healthcare Foundation Trust Radiology department and deliver diagnostic scans as well as many ultrasound-guided interventions in this setting.

I have been using ultrasound for diagnostic purposes and to guide injections for more than 15 years now. My passion for MSK ultrasound has led to my involvement as an educator in MSK ultrasound. I am a founding tutor of the ultrasound site which is an educational website on all things relating to MSK ultrasound. I am proud that through my work with The Ultrasound Site I have helped to teach a large, number of healthcare professionals becoming competent practitioners in MSK ultrasound.

Since 2019 I have been an honorary lecturer at Brunel University. Through collaboration between the ultrasound site and Brunel university I have helped to develop and teach on the PgCert in MSK ultrasound. Starting from May 2022 and with Brunel University we are now also running an ultrasound guided injection program which allows people to obtain formal ultrasound guided injection competency.

In addition to this I am also an Independent non-medical prescriber of medicines.

I am the clinical director of Sonoscope Ltd. Here I deliver a true one stop clinic including: clinical assessment, diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound guided procedure(s). The Sonoscope clinic bypasses the often lengthy process from Initial consult to ultrasound guided procedure which can take weeks or even months to be delivered in other settings. Sonoscope cuts this down to just one single session.
